what’s your story?

I’m originally from south west Ireland but moved to London to train as an actor, singer&dancer. I spent eight years performing as a singer in the West End in some of the biggest shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Evita and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels aswell as featuring in numerous tv commercials etc however I found myself searching for some deeper meaning in life and being drawn to teaching yoga for many years before finally deciding to get my qualification in Bali last summer.

how and when did you get started with yoga and meditation?

I’d practiced yoga on&off for the best part of 10years but it wasn’t until I took my first Ashtanga vinyasa class about 5 years ago that I really got hooked. As an ex professional dancer I’ve always had a deep connection to my body but I never truly understood the mind/body connection until I discovered Ashtanga. Over time with practice I learned to truly connect my breath to movement through the Tristana method – (unjayi breath, bandhas and dristi). I love the physicality of the practice but it goes way beyond the physical and gives me a much deeper understanding of my true self. It’s a beautiful moving meditation.

if you could give your younger self some advice, what would it be?

Advice I would give my younger self – let go of the idea of perfection, there really is no such thing! Ever! In anything! Perfectionism is another form of fear and it really does hold us back from so much in life. This is something I need to remind myself on a daily basis but through regular practice I’m learning to let go bit by bit, day by day.

what are you currently working on and where can people find you?

I’m currently teaching regular dynamic vinyasa and Ashtanga vinyasa classes all over London to private, corporate and studio clients. It’s a relatively new career for me but I’m loving the journey so far and always curious and excited to see where it will lead to next. My dream is to incorporate my passion and expertise in singing into yoga – making/singing for meditation music etc. so currently working towards this aswell as doing my best to lead my students towards mind, body and soul synchronisation 🙏🏼
